Mode of Action

Echinacea angustifolia (Coneflower) Echinacea purpurea (Purple coneflower) Echinacea's immune stimulant actions reduce inflammation and help the body fight bacteria and viruses. Tests show that Echinacea stimulates immune system cells into action. When these cells are activated, white blood cells are more ready to wrap themselves around illness-causing invaders and to move viruses or bacteria out of your system, prevent them from reproducing themselves, or simply stop their activity. While many individuals choose to take echinacea on a daily basis during the winter to help prevent colds and flu, studies have not consistently shown that this type of use is effective. On the other hand, echinacea can reduce the length of time that you have a cold or the flu.
Agathosma betulina (Buchu) Decreases inflammation of the colon, gums, mucous membranes, prostate, sinuses, and vagina. Aids in controlling bladder and kidney problems, diabetes, digestive disorders, fluid retention, and prostate disorders.
Mentha piperita (Peppermint) Peppermint leaves contain about 0.5-4% volatile oil that is composed of 50-78% free menthol and 5-20% menthol combined with other constituents. Peppermint oil is classified as a carminative, meaning that it helps ease intestinal cramping and tone the digestive system. It may also increase the flow of bile from the gallbladder. Useful aid in lowering fevers.
Solidago virgaurea (Golden rod) Anti-inflammatory; relaxant; anti-catarrhal; urinary antiseptic.
Viscum album (Mistletoe) In this blend Mistletoe helps to enhance the over all immune stimulating properties of the other ingredients.
Crataegus oxycanthoides (Hawthorn) Dilates the coronary blood vessels, lowers cholestrol levels, and restores heart muscle. Increases intracellular Vit C levels. Useful for anaemia cardiovascular and circulatory disorders, high cholestrol and lowered immunity.
Schizandra sinensis (Schizandra) contains a number of compounds, including essential oils, numerous acids, and lignans. Lignans (schizandrin, deoxyschizandrin, gomisins, and pregomisin) are found in the seeds of the fruit and have a number of medicinal actions. Modern Chinese research suggests that lignans regenerate liver tissue damaged by harmful influences such as viral hepatitis and alcohol. Lignans lower blood levels of serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT), a marker for infective hepatitis and other liver disorders.
Astralagus membranaceus (Astralagus) Recent research in China indicates that astragalus may offer antioxidant benefits in people with severe forms of heart disease, relieving symptoms and improving heart function. Deep immune support and has anti-bacterial activity. Has a tonic effect helping to reduce fatigue.
Olea europea (Olive leaf extract) Both leaves and bark have valuable febrifugal qualities. It helps to protecct immune system in the following ways: Interfering with the pathogens amino acid properties. This prevents the pathogen from reproducing and creating more microbes within the body. Studies even suggest that calcium elenolate can enter infected cells in the body and stop viral cells from replicating. Preventing virus shedding, the means by which viruses reproduce. Right-reflecting calcium elenolate attaches to the cell membrane to stop viruses from multiplying and spreading. In the case of retroviruses, calcium elenolate neutralizes the production of reverse transcriptase and protease. These enzymes are essential for a retrovirus, such as HIV, to alter the RNA of a healthy cell. Without them, the retrovirus is rendered impotent. Directly stimulating phagocytosis, an immune system response in which cells ingest microorganisms and foreign matter.
Propolis Propolis is a potent anti-viral, anti-biotic and anti-septic. Acts as a profilactic and alleviates symptoms associated with flu like pharyngitis and bronchial infections.
