What is in BioFend™ to support your immune system?
Flora Force BioFend™ is a nutritional supplement which combines Acerola berry and a proprietary beta-glucan ingredient called Wellmune®, to support your immune system.
Wellmune®: beta 1,3/1,6 glucans
Beta glucans occur naturally in the cell walls of a number of foods like mushrooms, seaweed, oats and barley. These type of beta glucans are generally well known to support cardiac health. But the specific beta glucans in Wellmune are beta 1,3/1,6 glucans, extracted from baker’s yeast. Research has shown these beta 1,3/1,6 glucans can improve immune response and speed up recovery time.
We were inspired to create BioFend™ using Wellmune®, because of its efficacy shown in rigorous studies and clinical trials. The same body of evidence impressed the judges of the NutraIngredients-Asia Awards 2020 and earned Wellmune® the first place for Product Of The Year – Sports Nutrition.
Acerola: An Under-utilised Superfood
Acerola (Malphigia sp.) is a mall, bright red berry resembling a cherry, which is why it is also known as Barbados cherry. It is a powerful natural anti-oxidant, and rich bioavailable source of phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals, including Vit C, Vit A and anthocyanin glycosides.
Researchers believe that Acerola cherries are one of the richest and most bioavailable sources of Vitamin C available, providing around 50–100 times more than oranges or lemons! Eating just about three small acerola fruits per day can satisfy the vitamin C needs of an adult.
Anthocyanin glycosides are flavonoid compounds that give plants their darker colours. In plants they protect cells against oxidative damage and are believed to pass on some of these healthy benefits when introduced to the human diet. They act as anti-oxidants and have also been shown to provide anti inflammatory benefits.
This combination of phytonutrients makes it the perfect botanical nutrient source for BioFend™to complement the beta 1,3/1,6 glucans in supporting your immune system.
